Swapped from drop bars one day to flat bars the ne Swapped from drop bars one day to flat bars the next and pretty happy to be able to ride more proper single track.

If you missed my other reel scroll back one but it reinforces the fact that once you advance to something more capable it stands out when you try to revert.

In this case the 2.25s, 100mm fork, 160mm rotors, single piston brakes & no dropper all added up to specially make it noticeable difference in my normal mtb style and routes. That’s a key separator for me actually deterring from routes I’d normally embark, but may not be for you or your surrounding trails.

But on the gravel side this setup seems like over biking but isn’t really. Smooths things out and makes it fun.

Hear me out! At some point the lines between bikes Hear me out! At some point the lines between bikes and there purpose becomes blurred and this is coming from one of the old times that says “I used to ride that on 25s” “on a hardtail” or “without a dropper”.

The analogy I see is the trend of bigger gravel tires makes sense because it’s smooth and similar to running larger stanchion forks, larger rotors, or more squish. You don’t realize how good it is or more-so what you’ve normalized until you experience it and try to go back.

But recently getting this hardtail built up with hydraulic couplers to swap between flat bars or drops has been fun. The big 2.25s roll fast and smooth and I can even hit take single track.

Haters gonna hate but gotta admit bikes are fun!

Finishing up building & instslling a bridge for @p Finishing up building & instslling a bridge for @pikespeakapex race day!

Once you see this you’ll have only a bit more of traversing climb before seeing your aid station and then time to send it on a 🤯 4300ft descent with only 317ft of ascent over final 15mi to the finish!

You earned it…time to burn it! ✊
Great things happening rolling into @pikespeakapex Great things happening rolling into @pikespeakapex as Race Director @micah.rice & I attended @rmficolorado trail work day making the Columbine descent a safer experience for all.

And 👀 at the new bridge over St. Mary’s Creek next to the collapsed tunnel. The @pikespeakoutdoors Trail Stewardship fund put $2500 towards this bridge which came directly from APEX entry fees.

Love seeing the event continue to make the trails we all use better for everyone all the time and not just race day!
@srm.usa @srmpower new X-zero pedals are an innova @srm.usa @srmpower new X-zero pedals are an innovation that you don’t know you need until you experience. Like riding a more stable bike making a previous gen feel@like a wet noodle. Posting immediate new peak powers by 10% without any training focus on 1st rides out and the fit dropping lower center of mass is awesome to be closer to pedal spindle.
Proud of @chase_fairly @alex.fairly doing the work Proud of @chase_fairly @alex.fairly doing the work when no one’s looking and executing on race day @valleyoftearsgravel to take age group wins in 19-39 and 60+ but more impressive is 4th & 15th overall in the largest field of the day and being part of the team behind the overall race production.
