Trust me winning is cool but it’s not my 1st objec Trust me winning is cool but it’s not my 1st objective; it’s effort! My definition of success includes giving your best effort. If you do that day in and day out; the results downstream may even surprise you.

This high touch coaching camp in the books with skills camp combined with team race experience joining Joel & Bayer as a team member ofTucson Masters Cycling for @ziarides Tommyknocker 10hr mtb race was a testament.

Fast lap put us in the early lead but a mistake by other competitors waiving Bayer off course since he was thought to be off course with minutes ahead put us from winning to 30min behind as he backtracked. Sites set on the process and fun we kept chipping away all doing faster laps not even thinking we’d be in podium contention. Before we knew it without the pressure to perform we chipped away from 5th overall up to 2nd on the day even in light of the 30min mistake. And we were a 3 person team against mostly other 4 person squads.
Proud of the effort we all kept putting in even when it wasn’t required just to have fun, find the flow, and give 100% effort of what you’re capable of. That’s winning! 🏁

Hats off to Seth & the Zia Rides team for a great event! I know how much effort goes into those as well so it’s good to be back inside the tape from my other job race promoting. 😉

The weekend of @theraddirt just to network turned The weekend of @theraddirt just to network turned into a great event as the only race I’ve registered for this year.
Bumping into @dhughes101 discussing DKs 20th anniversary approaching recollecting our @unboundgravel breakaway in 2013 together where I ended up going off course logging 221mi chasing back to just out of top 10.

Now to getting on the masters podium just by racing with curiosity and setting an outcome goal to lead whatever group I was in into the south shore of Lake Trinidad selection putting me in contact with the lead group of three and bringing a few with me.
Turned out a lot of suffering to endure from writing that check I couldn’t cash to finish the day but that’s racing.
Now what to do?
Hear me out! At some point the lines between bikes Hear me out! At some point the lines between bikes and there purpose becomes blurred and this is coming from one of the old times that says “I used to ride that on 25s” “on a hardtail” or “without a dropper”.

The analogy I see is the trend of bigger gravel tires makes sense because it’s smooth and similar to running larger stanchion forks, larger rotors, or more squish. You don’t realize how good it is or more-so what you’ve normalized until you experience it and try to go back.

But recently getting this hardtail built up with hydraulic couplers to swap between flat bars or drops has been fun. The big 2.25s roll fast and smooth and I can even hit take single track.

Haters gonna hate but gotta admit bikes are fun!

What are your guesses to why it’s called the 719Ch What are your guesses to why it’s called the 719Challenge?

The 719 theme runs deep!
We get a lot of flack alongside all the kudos but We get a lot of flack alongside all the kudos but bottom line is the bike racing culture & the events make our trails better!

These trails get used daily but the preceding trail work, the clean up, the future investment in new trails and even YES the racing buffs in a trail system. Don’t believe me go ride any of our @pikespeakapex race course from this race & they’ll be primo 🤌!

Considering the stewardship fund from the race helped build some of the new trails we raced on that proofs in the pudding! Over $40k invested back at this point!

Even the other users I encountered today for the most part were loving a car-free Canon & the buffed lines from the race!

Support the movement & we’re glad to put this on for the racers, but also for the entire trail user community! 🫡
@srm.usa @srmpower new X-zero pedals are an innova @srm.usa @srmpower new X-zero pedals are an innovation that you don’t know you need until you experience. Like riding a more stable bike making a previous gen feel@like a wet noodle. Posting immediate new peak powers by 10% without any training focus on 1st rides out and the fit dropping lower center of mass is awesome to be closer to pedal spindle.
I’ll be honest I feel like a poser wearing Nationa I’ll be honest I feel like a poser wearing National Championship 🇺🇸!

I think it’s important to inspire athletes and represent others I’ve coached to that same result and it all starts with a champion mindset.

Swapped from drop bars one day to flat bars the ne Swapped from drop bars one day to flat bars the next and pretty happy to be able to ride more proper single track.

If you missed my other reel scroll back one but it reinforces the fact that once you advance to something more capable it stands out when you try to revert.

In this case the 2.25s, 100mm fork, 160mm rotors, single piston brakes & no dropper all added up to specially make it noticeable difference in my normal mtb style and routes. That’s a key separator for me actually deterring from routes I’d normally embark, but may not be for you or your surrounding trails.

But on the gravel side this setup seems like over biking but isn’t really. Smooths things out and makes it fun.

What A Few Of Our Athletes Have To Say

After only 5 months of his guidance I PR'd at Leadville by over 40 minutes. I recommend Matheny Endurance's coaching services to anyone with a passion for cycling and a desire to improve.

Peter Tonn, Badass

I still remember 4 years ago when I got into racing how I kept wishing I'd be up there with the pros someday. Daniel made this happen in only 2 years! His coaching philosophy and his personality make it for an amazing experience.

Joseph Wintergerst, Badass

Through most of the season, I felt stronger and faster than I have in many years. Following a training plan created by my coach, Daniel Matheny, I realized some lofty goals, and even set some new course records.
